Don Miller
Agent
Real estate has always been an area of intense interest and intrigue for Don. A career in high tech with travels all over the world led Don and his family to eventually settle in Central Texas. Some years later when his career again required relocation, they decided that moving away from an area they had really grown to love was not an option, and Don saw an opportunity to pursue his long time passion for real estate. Real estate investment and land development has intrigued him since childhood. He has vivid memories of his parent’s dinner table conversations about the ins and outs of home ownership, profit and loss, concessions and negotiations, and found it all fascinating. Years later, and an ocean away, Don met his wife from Sweden where they started a life together, and a family. While attending the University of Stockholm in Sweden, Don bought his first property. Despite a busy career and growing young family, he kept developing his interest and knowledge of the real estate industry. "I have always been interested in development. I enjoy knowing what's happening in my city. I read a lot, I observe, and I connect the dots," Don says. He is interested in roads, housing developments and city planning. He likes to stay informed and understand what’s driving growth and development. "As an investor, I was a tough client. I wanted to know more about the property and the area than your average buyer," Don says. “… and later I would try to be for my clients what I wish real estate agents had been for me." His thirst for knowledge has been constant and allows him to offer clients a broader perspective. He enjoys working with buyers and sellers at all levels, from young people taking their first steps into homeownership to longtime homeowners wishing to downsize and everything in between. About the complexities of downsizing Don says: "Downsizing is all about planning, developing options, executing a strategy, and timing." His clients say things like, "He was very real with me, honest and genuine from day one," and "he is completely knowledgeable, thinks outside the box and his follow through is fantastic. He is dedicated and gets things done, even when it’s hard." He definitely cares passionately about his clients. Living and working with people all over the world has shaped Don's outlook on life. He loves people, cultures and languages, and speaks several; but says that one of the most important lessons he has learned is that people are mostly the same. “We all have similar needs and people everywhere solve them in slightly different ways”. He likes to tell his kids and his clients, "Everybody is people". Don is grateful for the opportunities he has had to experience other cultures and says "it’s given me a better appreciation for the world at large and the diversity of humanity … there are lovely people everywhere."
